Dr Boris Kulizhskiy MD is a physiologist, psychologist, the medical researcher of RITM OKB ZAO, and the scientific referent of DEGAT e.V.

Q: How and why did you join RITM OKB ZAO?

A: I discovered the SCENAR device in 1992 when I was studying in Novocherkassk Secondary Medical School. My teacher of pediatrics Rimma Engybaryantz was using this device; she was the author of the first official pediatrics textbook that mentioned SCENAR (Pediatrics with Children Infections:Practicum, Phoenix, 2012) . Back then I did not quite understand the purpose of this device, but when my uncle Vladimir Popov, a specialist in medical electronics, found out that it was developed in RITM OKB that was a branch of Taganrog Radio Technical Institute back then, he said that it was a profound device and I should give special consideration to that.

Later, in 1995, when I was working as an emergency doctor, I bought my first SCENAR device. Actually we bought it together with my colleague Dr. Grigory Moysik and started to use it. I attended a SCENAR therapy training courses and I loved the treatment approach of Dr. Yury Gorfinkel because it was fast and illustrative. When Dr. Gorfinkel told me about the so-called “SCENAR fairytales”, for example, that SCENAR can change the cardiogram in acute myocardial infarction, I did not believe it and even made a bet with him. Three months later I lost the bet. After 15 minutes of SCENAR treatment, I saw the changes in the cardiogram of one patient that were possible only after several days.

After some time I got lucky – I was invited to work for RITM OKB ZAO. That happened in April of 1998. I was invited by Alexander Revenko and Yury Gorfinkel and I will be forever grateful for that. Unfortunately, Dr. Gorfinkel passed away the very same April of 1998. I started to work with Alexander Revenko and Yakov Grinberg. Soon Revenko left to Yekaterinburg and Grinberg took me under his wing, and was a very good teacher. I was always more interested in science than clinical therapy. How SCENAR device works, what happens under the electrode, including the biophysics and biochemistry. That predetermined my future life. Michael Unakafov also helped me a lot in many aspects.

My experience of radio-amateur helped me to understand physics, medicine, biology, and physiology. Though, I also had to study them additionally in the Rostov State University. I was growing as a specialist and started to understand what happens under the electrode. I spent many years studying what happens to the human body when exposed to SCENAR influence, and I made a huge literature review regarding the influence of electricity to the human. Two professors, Alexander Tarakanov and Nikolai Lyan helped me to shape my position as a SCENAR professional.

In 2012-2013, basing on the training of the German school of physiotherapy, I formed the new ideas of local therapy with the use of SCENAR device’s potential. Together with Dr. Yury Starovoytov, we created the new idea of systemic therapy based on neurophysiology. I participated in the development of the spaced electrodes, first combined presets for SCENAR-DE, SCENAR-ARM, CHANS-SCENAR, SCENAR-NT and SCENAR-DE and had a productive research work together with the OKB’s engineers. Also, I am the author of some instructions and guidelines.

Q: What is the current place of SCENAR in modern medicine and where does it really belong in your opinion?

A: In my opinion, SCENAR is a very important therapy method that should not be considered as an add-on treatment method. SCENAR can become the main treatment for a great number of diseases and states. Besides, this device can bring therapy closer to the specialist. What is the common therapy pattern? The specialist sees a patient, sets a diagnosis, prescribes medications and physiotherapy, and sends a patient home or to an in-patient facility. It turns out that the doctor who sets a diagnosis has no direct influence on the patient and has no or little control over the therapy process. With SCENAR, it is absolutely different. With this device, we can quickly and easily control the human body. That makes the treatment more transparent, and, in many cases, more effective. This is why SCENAR is an undoubtedly important part of modern medicine. I hope it will become more and more widely used over time.

Q: How do you use SCENAR in your practice?

A: In my current practice I use SCENAR on myself every day. I know this device both from the doctor’s and the patient’s position. Without SCENAR my life would have been very sad. I would be restricted in movements and would not be able to realize all my plans. This is why I do everything I can to make other people believe in SCENAR therapy, and, most important, try the device themselves and start to use it. I create new testing techniques, so the doctors can also evaluate the SCENAR’s work and believe in it.

Q: So should SCENAR become a common doctor’s tool like a stethoscope of tonometer?

A: SCENAR should become a common tool not only for medical doctors but also for physiotherapists, nurses, massage therapists, etc. This device makes the treatment easier and much cheaper. In my opinion, SCENAR is ultimately underestimated as a device to be used in ambulance situations, for example, in terms of a rural health district or in a paramedical and midwifery station. So it may turn out that the medications run out, and the device, despite the seemingly high cost, will pay off very quickly. SCENAR is easy to use and very efficient, especially in trained hands. You may run out of the medications, and the batteries are much easier to find.

Q: Do you agree that every family should have at least a personal SCENAR device?

A: Every family should have one. SCENAR is a wonderful home first aid kit that will never run out and a universal aid for any minor or moderate injuries and home accidents. It is good for at-home rehabilitation. SCENAR is really multifunctional. I hope that as the instructions and training materials gain in quality and become more widely distributed, the device will become more popular.

Q: How do you appraise the prospects of SCENAR therapy development in Russia and worldwide?

A: The perspectives for SCENAR’s worldwide development are great. The only thing that can prevent SCENAR from spreading is the policy of the big manufacturers. SCENAR can easily and successfully substitute the stationary combined physiotherapy devices and it is way cheaper. If people understand the advantages of SCENAR, RITM OKB and its entire staff will have a bright future.

The universal nature of the SCENAR device allows using it as the main treatment. As I mentioned before, when there are no medications or the patient’s state make their administration impossible, there should be SCENAR. I hope that people all over the world will try and see that, and will trust the device.
